Psychological Profile:

A superiority complex to everyone. Also has problem with losing to anyone, and refuse to accept it, sometimes losing sight of common sense in trying to get what he believes he deserves, and beating those he thinks of as his enemies. He also tends to loose sight of necessity whenever a pretty face is involved, and often gets himself into trouble over it.

Background:

Arnaud was born into a somewhat upper-class family. His father was a scientist, specializing in bio-physics, his mother staying at home to take care of him and his older brother Huiclos. He was at a higher level than his peers from an early age, easily going through school and skipping a few grades.

He showed some slightly strange behavior in his childhood, as well as early teens. Getting in trouble often, but never to the point of having the authorities involved. He learned young how to get around that sort of thing, often getting away with whatever he had planned to do, sometimes without anyone finding out about it.

He already showed an almost detachment from his family by age 14, getting his brother arrested for a crime that he himself had committed without a second thought. His brother was released, but Arnaud never apologized or even mentioned it again. He always treated his brother like a subservient, only there to do what Arnaud told him.

At 16 Arnaud left home to go to the University of Geneve Medical School. He took to his classes well enough, his teachers noting his above average intelligence though it was often without the accompanying common sense. Something that could easily get him into trouble if he wasn’t carful.

The first incident while he was at the university that directly affect him and his future, was the death of his parents. They were in a car accident, and both died at the scene. Those around him noted his almost complete lack of sadness or upset at the incident. He was even known to have, on several occasion, blamed them for their own deaths. He went on as if it had never happened.

The second incident that would later affect him was meeting Lucrezia de Vere when he was 18 at a lecture. The were often found together after meeting, though she was soon gone, and he easily figured out that her sudden departure had to do with the murder of an employee.

Arnaud went through the rest of his university years, earning a few degrees, but found almost everything of little or no real interest to him, until a night when he accidently walked into the middle of type of fight. Arnaud was attacked by one of the men, who he didn’t hesitate to kill. It turned out that he had stopped a hit on the life of Kaspar Ciccone, a known terrorist.

Ciccone took an instant liking to Arnaud after this. Soon after graduating he was taken under Ciccone’s wing. He started treating Arnaud as a student, though he was treating him a bit to much like a servant for Arnaud’s liking. This went on for a few years before Arnaud found the chance to kill Ciccone. He then took over his terrorist operations, informing others that one of the many hits on Ciccone had been carried out, and that he was taking over for him.

Arnaud used Marcus as someone he could use complete control over, something that he never had with de Vere. He knew that Marcus needed his connections in an attempt to find his sister, and he used it against the man, knowing that no matter how badly he treated him he would need to stay with him for his sister’s sake, and by the time he finds his sister he would hopefully be so connected to Arnaud in reputation, that any attempt to leave would result in numerous death threats and other un-appealing options that would leave him as forced to forever work as Arnaud’s subordinate.

Arnaud started to branch out his terrorist acts during this time, and became involved in the quicksilver project. He used his old name of DeThiel to infiltrate the team working on the quicksilver gland, and almost got away with it if not for the involvement of Darien Fawkes. He still works on finding ways to get quicksilver under his control, though it is often meet with failure.

DeVere once again came into his life when he tried to put the gland up for auction. He broached the subject of her coming to work for him again, not only for her obvious skills, but for other aspects of their former relationship that couldn’t be fulfilled by anyone currently working for him. It didn’t work out, and soon after was his near death in an explosion caused by Darien Fawkes.

After the exaggerations of his death were more or less put to rest, he contacted de Vere with a job offer. He needed her as part of his organization, and Marcus, who had more or less taken her professional place, wasn’t working out as well as Arnaud had hoped. He spent far to much time on his sister, and wouldn’t easily submit to orders. While de Vere wasn’t much better, she offered other things that made up for the difference.

After the incident that left him permanently invisible for a time, he has become somewhat more wary in his ventures, staying more on the side of caution that he used to. While realizing that some of the more dangerous people he associates with have noticed it, he still behaves the same. While starting to regain some of his old flair for danger and disregard for caution, it’s a slow process, that seems to be costing those around him more than it costs him.
