Psychological Profile: Tom is a bit of an
innocent, but very intelligent and adaptable. He is very curious, almost like a little
boy, and is prone to investigating anything that catches his interest. However, there is
an undercurrent of fear that runs through his mind at all times: fear of being caught,
fear of endangering those who help him, and fear of who -- or what -- he might really be.
Background: The first memory Tom has is
when he awoke to find himself trapped in a cramped cell, with no knowledge of who he was;
the only thing he could remember was his first name. He began to search desperately for a
way to escape, panicking as time went on and he came no closer to a solution.
After several hours, when Tom had finally
given up, a man in a lab coat walked into the cell, brandishing a needle. Tom panicked
anew and charged at the man, knocking the needle out of his hand and sending it skittering
across the floor. Tom dashed out of the cell before the guards who had been standing
outside had time to slam it shut again, and made a frantic bid to escape the building,
leaping over a twelve-foot wall to get off the grounds.
For the next month Tom wandered from place
to place, getting a meal or a place to sleep wherever he could manage it, wary of anyone
who approached him. However, one day when he was getting a meal at a homeless shelter, he
held a brief conversation with one of the women working there. She told him her name was
Bethany, and displayed a kindness and warmth that Tom found intriguing. He returned to the
shelter the next day, and the next, and the next. However, on the day of his seventh
visit, a large group of men wearing suits and sunglasses stormed into the shelter, guns
drawn. Tom managed to escape, but not before he saw Bethany being led away by two of the
men who had been searching for him.
After
that, Tom was much more careful not to make anything more than passing acquaintances,
nothing that 'they', whoever they were, would pick up on. He gradually discovered that he
had several hidden talents, such as creating false identities for himself, and created a
new one whenever the old one seemed to fall under suspicion. He managed to keep one step
ahead of 'them', but sometimes only barely.
After six months of running, Tom still had
no idea who 'they' were, or who he really was. But as he took up residence in San Diego,
he had the unnerving feeling that 'they' were getting close. Much, much too close.
Other Information: Is extremely
claustrophobic; has chronic nightmares of drowning in strange chemicals and being stabbed
with needles and scalpels.
